William Sowders
1879 - 1952

William Sowders received the Holy Spirit [according to Acts 2:4] with the evidence of speaking in other tongues during a Pentecostal Revival in 1912.  A short time later, while working on a boat named the "Gospel Boat", he heard a loud voice from heaven that sounded like a clap of thunder, "Son, I want you to preach MY GOSPEL!". The gospel he received did not come from some seminary, but was given to him by the Lord, receiving one revelation from God after another; opening up truths from the Bible on the Godhead, Hell, Babylon, the body of Christ, charity, water baptism, eternal judgment, the bride of Christ, and more!

With the love of God in his heart, he began having tent meetings and revivals in Olmstead, Illinois, Evansville, Indiana and Anna, Illinois, just to name a few, where he opened his arms wide to all people, regardless of color or nationality. In 1923, he conducted his first camp meeting on Elco Hill at Elco, Illinois.
